FAME

Formative assessment is a process used during teaching and learning to improve student outcomes. It’s one of the most effective instructional interventions that schools can adopt. The formative assessment process for MPS involves:

  • setting goals for learning
  • engaging in activities that promote understanding and then mastering content
  • eliciting evidence of student understanding
  • giving and receiving timely, descriptive, and actionable feedback
  • planning for future learning

The MDE sponsored FAME team at MPS includes the following teachers who serve as district leaders to ensure MPS employs best-practice formative assessment processes:

  • Anna Biela-Robinson, Secondary Science Teacher
  • Sara Burtis, Secondary English Teacher
  • Jen Emmons, Secondary Math Teacher
  • Kelly Fitzpatrick, Director of Curriculum & Instruction
  • Alayna Hager, Secondary Social Studies Teacher
  • Roberta Nuttall, Secondary English Teacher
  • Renee Shaum, Secondary Math Teacher
