Katherine Kennedy Grable, 2004
Kathryn Kennedy, class of 2004, is incredibly grateful and honored for the nomination and recognition into the Marshall High School Hall of Fame. During her time at MHS, she played tennis and golf on the varsity teams from her freshman to senior year under the instruction of Coach Foreman and Coach Hamilton. Throughout her high school career, she was awarded All-State in golf 4 times, the only 4-time All State recipient in a single sport in MHS history, and Honorable Mention for tennis.
On the golf team, she won Regionals her junior year with the support of her fellow teammates and made it to state as an individual all four years as well, In tennis, she won Regionals as 4th singles her sophomore year, along with making it to State as #1 singles her junior year.
After high school, Kathryn attended Purdue University and worked at Walt Disney World before returning to Marshall to take over a local dance studio and raise her family in this wonderful community. While dance has been the main focus since high school, she has supported her nephews playing on the high school golf team, along with the middle school tennis team. She also assisted with a Junior Golf Program at Tomac Woods, and continues to keep athletics a focus. While her golf swing may still be intact, Kathryn has started playing tennis and taking lessons again which has challenged her to harness her skills after a 20 year hiatus!
The motivation, grit, and drive she had during her time at Marshall High School played an instrumental role as a successful student and in her career moving forward. Sports and movement during an educational career betters an individual both mentally and physically. It encourages students to immerse themselves in the experience, overcome failures, and stay active and busy! As a past student and participant of high school sports, she encourages our community to look beyond just an educational experience here at MHS, but how athletics and extracurricular activities can better an individual in the long term.
She'd like to thank Marshall High School Athletic Boosters for this award, along with her parents, Jean-ee and Dave Kennedy, her family, friends in the community, both from high school and new….and the two most lovable boys in her life, Preston and Bennett.
